“But the prince of the kingdom of Persia was
withstanding me for twenty-one days; then behold, Michael, one of the chief
princes, came to help me, for I had been left there with the kings of Persia.” – Daniel 10:13 [NASB]
Summarize in a Word: Spiritual Warfare
Key Principle: God’s Grace is Greater than Satan’s Scheme
Key Application: Have courage in the Grace of God.
Main point of the Passage: Despite
Satan’s influences upon the earth, God’s grace sustains the universe through
the active working of His angels.
Illustration: Daniel’s Prayer
Exhortation: Keep waiting on God. Be of good courage!
This
passage reveals the reality of on-going spiritual warfare which we do not
notice. Despite Satan’s influences upon the earth, God’s grace sustains the
universe through the active working of His angels. Christians are with angels
in this battle, and non-Christians are
under the influence of the demonic force (Eph. 2:2)
Sometimes we fall in this battle because we went astray
from Christ. When we fall we are not forsaken by God, though sometimes, we may
feel like Heaven shuts its door to us. The Scripture says God will not answer
the prayer of an unrepentant man (Is. 59:2; Jas 5:16). Therefore, we must
repent of our sins before God.
However
unexpected things can happen too in this battle even if we are righteous. Daniel,
a righteous man, was troubled in heart concerning the future of God’s people.
He humbled himself and pray to God for 21 days. God heard His prayer
instantaneously but the Devil delay God’s angel from answering Daniel’s prayer.
Demons are powerful, but God is more powerful so, His angel prevail over the demon. Then God revealed Daniel much more than
what he asked for.
Is there
a time you feel like God does not hear you? God hears you instantaneously
though the answer may get a delay. Like
Daniel, Keep waiting on God with humility, faith, and in constant prayer. In
Spiritual warfare, we are not to get intimidated by the schemes of the Devil.
Rather we must have confidence in the
Greater Grace of God. Be of good courage! With Christ,
we are more than conquerors! (Rom 8:37).
